What is YMFL?
Young Men’s Fastpitch League (YMFL) provides a place for boys (U16 and U14) to play in a community league Fastpitch program. For the 2013 season, boys born in the years 1997 to 2000 and living in the Calgary area will register in the YMFL program.
To ensure competitive play, YMFL teams will play against girl teams one age category higher (U14 YMFL teams will play U16 girl teams, and U16 YMFL teams will play U19 girl teams). We did this for the first time in 2012 and it was a huge success!
In 2012, YMFL boys and their parents noted significant improvement in skill level & interest in the sport from the challenge of playing against the older girl teams. They also performed well in the provincial championship against other male teams from around Alberta.
What about U12 and U10 boys?
At the November 2012 Calgary Minor Softball Association board meeting it was decided that each district in the city of Calgary will register U12 and U10 boys for the formation of boy teams. If there are not enough teams city wide to form a boy only league at either age group then these teams will be merged with the girl program at the same age level (U10 boy teams will play against U10 girl teams). This format was done at the 2012 fall ball program and was also a success with no safety issues found. Therefore, will be adopted in 2013 depending on the number of U10 and U12 boy teams registered in late March 2013.

How about U21 boys (born 1992 to 1996)?
